I have been waiting for this palette to be released for what seems like forever, and I'm not going to lie, on the release date I sat there with a friend for ages refreshing the website, and calling up the customer services to find out what time it was going on sale, just to make sure I got myself one, and literally the second it went on sale, I had one ordered, I know it's a bit sad, but it really was the best day ever. Anyway it finally arrived yesterday morning, and I couldn't get over how beautiful it is. The packaging is just as beautiful as the shades in the palette, and the attention to detail is amazing, from the 'we're all mad here' on the mirror, to the beautiful butterfly inside the folding doors, to the pattern of the box being continued onto the brush which you get included.
You get 20 different shades in this palette, all in colour schemes of 5 different characters from the film. All of them being brand new shades, made specifically for this limited edition palette. I swatched every shade, and I was not disappointed at all, the colours really are beautiful and highly pigmented, and the great thing is that there is such a variety of different shades you could create so many different looks. The thing I love most about this palette is that they included a variety of matte shades and glittery shades, and also some very bright and beautiful colours, along with some of the most beautiful neutral shades I've come across. The shades 'Lily' and 'Royal flush' are truly gorgeous, they are very subtle and feminine and could even be used a highlighter for your cheeks. I have to say 'salazen Grum' is one of the most beautiful shades in the palette, because it's such a unique coppery colour, and it's so highly pigmented, I often find similar shades turn silvery after a few minutes. 'Dream on' is also lovely, I expected it to be a bit more pigmented/glittery than it was, and at first I was slightly disappointed in it, but the shade really grew on me, it's a very beautiful pale shimmery purple/silver, it took me a while, but I have fallen in love with it. In all honesty there isn't a shade in this palette that I don't like, it's really lived up to my expectations. It's such a universal palette, with so many different and unique shades. I really am in love with it.
I was also really pleased with the price, I paid £43 with free postage directly from Urban Decay, I was expecting it to be more expensive, seeing as it is limited edition, I would have easily paid more for this palette.
Here is one of the looks I have created so far using the shades; 'Paradox', 'Hatter', 'Heads will roll' 'Metamorphosis' and 'Cake'.
The shadows are so easy to blend, they're nice and thick, and ever so slightly creamy, which I think is what makes them so easy to work with. The brush that is included is the same standard brush that is supplied with any Urban Decay palette, but it really is perfect for blending, and as I said before they've followed the pattern from the box onto the brush, which makes it look really pretty.
All in all I'm so happy with this palette, and I really can't wait to try out new looks, and experiment with all the shades. I'm sure you'll all get bored of seeing it plastered all over my blog before long, but I'm just so in love with it!
