Experimenting with coloured shadows.

I've been having so much fun experimenting with coloured eye shadows recently, I'm normally quite reserved when it comes to eyeshadows and stick to more natural or nude tones, but since I bought the Urban Decay 'Vice 4' palette a few weeks ago, I've been pushing myself out of my comfort zone. And now that own the 'Through the looking glass palette' (also by Urban Decay) I'm spending much more time playing around with different/ brighter looks, and I'm really loving the outcome.

To create this look, I started off with an eyeshadow primer and a natural toned shadow to make it easier to blend the shadows together later on. All the colours I used here are from the 'Through the looking glass' palette. I started off by placing 'Heads will roll' all over my lid, ensuring it was brightest on the inner corner, I then took 'Metamorphosis' with a fluffy blending brush and swept it over the crease of my eye, pulling it highest on the very edge of my eye, I made sure to blend it with my base shade about two thirds of the way across my eye. I had originally intended to leave it at that, but I felt it needed a little something more, so I chose the shade 'Cake' and placed it right in the centre of my eye lid, just to give it a bit more pop of colour. I then went in with a black gel liner, and created a wing effect to give my eyes more definition. After applying some eyelash primer and mascara, I decided to use some white liner on my water line, as to widen the appearance of my eyes. I still felt I needed to add a little something more, so I took the shades 'Cake' and 'Heads will roll' and blended them together beneath my bottom lashes as a finishing touch.

I really love bold looks at the moment, it's nice to stand out occasionally and it just feels so much more summery.
